I agree with Andy that it's probably the best idea. You gotta take some pressure off the kid. He's 20, 1st pick overall, plays a position with the most exposure, and is probably one of the highest paid players on the team. Also you have to follow in the foot steps of Montana, Young, and to some degree Garcia. That's tough for a Rookie to come in and do.

Alex Smith has looked pretty ugly so far, but you can tell the potential is there. It just takes some time for a person to adjust and you gotta be patient.

If say the 49ers got Culpepper and he looked that bad, I would say it's ok to complain and yell at the TV, but you can't hate on a guy for at least a couple seasons.

Go niners, I say they will go 6 - 10, 8 - 8 @ best.
