Some of you might know that I have a free subscription to Variety magazine which is probably the most informative film/tv guide there is. All the information in there comes in quick and more importantly reliable. Anywhere back to the title of this paragraph, it turns out that one of my favorite game companies are moving their operations to the Los Angeles area. This way they can better option off their and my most beloved gaming franchises to film studios. They have already optioned off their Silent Hill license and they are eager to give away Castlevania and more importantly Metal Gear. This of course pisses me off to new limits. Hideo Kojima, the producer/director of Metal Gear has no fucking clue what is going to happen to his baby. Off the fucking bat I guarantee you the director nor the producer will play the games. And I say games since I am talking about the first Metal Gear to the Metal Gear Solid series. They will see some of the fucking gameplay and think, "oh wow...its about a spy and a big mech and lots of fucking violence. It could be like Kill Bill but stealthy and sneaky. This of course is NOT what Metal Gear is about. Can Metal Gear be a dope film? Of course. Ari and I already have a distinct feel to it in our heads...and leave it to someone to fuck it up. If anyone can tell me a director that has done a video game justice please let me know because I DON'T THINK ANY DIRECTOR BUT A HARDCORE VIDEO GAMER CAN REALISTICALLY CREATE A DOPE FUCKING TRANSITION. Don't say the Wizard. That's already a given for dopeness.

Sorry so late and you are probably over the subect. I think you make some very valid points about racism and how the media won't let it die and why can't people just forget the past. Now I am too lazy to read your post again, but I will address certain things that you should take notice too...AND I REALIZE THAT YOU ARE BLACK, BUT FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT LETS SAY THAT YOU ARE A CRACKER FROM TRUCKEE. You wanted honesty...here it is...
Affirmative action...I see what you are saying here. Anyone who deserves the job should get the job. Plain and simple. I don't necessarily agree with it and it's more of a round about way of trying to solve the problem of discrimination. Obviously you must have certain skills to even apply at a hospital...I think affirmative action is speaking more on terms of lower end jobs and college, not life altering jobs that affect anyone who is waiting to go into the O.R.
Yes people do take the whole jumping jacks and accidently hitting someone and calling it a race crime is over the top. However you must realize that this is happening because of what happened in the past. Which in your example would be the white people shitting over the black people. Now this brings me to your next point...why can't we forget about the past...here it is in all honestly...
IT'S BECAUSE WE AREN'T WHITE. You can say that you are Irish (although Irish people were the black people of Europe), English, Dutch, French, Icelandic whatever you are STILL WHITE. You are correct...you don't see white drinking fountain signs, but I guarantee you that on some degree it still exists. Look, plain and simple (besides the Jews which is technically a whole different issue for reasons I don't want to go into) since you are WHITE you have never been in the position of being told what to do, a serious target of racial crime and segregation. Shit in fact you probably won't understand what I'm saying because you are WHITE. I'm not being mean, I'm just saying what I feel is true.
Should I forget about the fact that WHITE people stuck my grandparents in camp? White people advertised it like it was summer camp with proper housing and food to the public, but guess what? Despite what you might have read and what you have heard and what little or nothing you heard about it in class...IT WAS HELL. They lost everything. They could only take what they can carry...they sacrificed a lot and out of all the American Japanese and the Japanese immigrants...NOT ONE WAS CONVICTED OF BEING A SPY. It was a big waste of money and it took the lives of so many of American Japanese people...See the reason we cannot forget this is because not only is this disturbingly recent, but because it is part of the history of my family, and other American Japanese as well. We are proud and thankful that the American Japanese and Japanese citizens kept their heads high and survived this black mark on the history of the United States.
Black people are the same...the white race gave them a history...they gave them slavery and they overcame it and are still overcoming it today...and even that is not that old in time...it's a part of them and it will never be forgotten just as your familiy history will probably not be forgotten.
Kevin this conversation cannot be kept to a blogger...but this sounds like somethign that would be fucking awesome to talk about with you since we both come from different parts of California...I'm not sayin what you are saying is wrong...I'm just saying that you have to be able to put yourself on the receiving end of racism before you can tell people that they should forget about the past and move on. (If it were that easy that perhaps we couldn't be considered human...I mean think about it...as long as there are different makes of people...racism will always exist.)
Also media not only creates racism but they also make GOD DAMN FUCKING AWFUL SHIT, OVERHYPED SLUT WHORE MICHAEL BAY FAMOUS...so as far as I'm concerned there are bigger problems in the media.
Chrono Cross
The game kinda sucked...HOWEVER I did not finish it fully since it came out when PS2 was about to launch, but the soundtrack is one of the BEST CD's I have now. If you like Square Soft music and appreciate what they have done in games...I suggest you buy this album...its the perfect mood...soothing music...emotional...I have their names in my head why I get into film and make it big...because Hollywood has no fucking clue how well they can capture moods...I mean think about it...film is a visual medium and the music doens't have to play the biggest part...now video games...these composers have been with Square since 8-bit days...to make bleeps into music and to tell the story...John Williams never had to do that...
KILL BILL
Call me when you go see this film...I dunno about Jon, but I thought it was fucking awesome...Tarantino brings something totally different to the table...and you can even call this film experimental in how it presents itself...Volume 2 in February.
That's about it...sorry not very exciting at all. Either way I think it's time for a new icon for myself...fuck the others who don't blog...although Kevin does try to keep it up...I should at least make him one for that. And your congratulated on that respect. By the way...when we gonna see you again...OR MAYBE I SHOULD SAY WHEN AM I GOING TO SEE GRACE KELLY AGAIN? YOU FUCKING BASTARD. HAHA.
